I've been trying not to repeat any songs this year. The parameters I set for the Weekly Song Post are pretty loose, it just has to be a recording I haven't posted before. According to the rules it's ok if I put up a band practice version of a song and a live version and a studio version just as long as I POST SOMETHING EVERY WEEK. That said, I'm happiest when I have something brand new to share. A few weeks ago I decided to go thru my 'scrap' folder and try and finish some songs. I started this one sometime last year and finished it this week.
Your eyes and ears keep me challenging myself to keep the songs coming so thanks for the time and attention. As much as we might think we do art for 'ourselves' a song isn't truly finished until someone else hears it, so thanks for helping me complete these!
Lately I've been using single sheets to condense song fragments, so I don't have to flip notebook pages back and forth. These pages get a little messy since I tend to write all over the page, again so I don't have to sift thru a bunch of paper. I've started crossing lines out as I weed out the stinkers, that way I can see the keeper lyrics more easily.
lyrics
lost on the way
lost on the way
already good and gone
lost on the way
got a heavy heart
full of hope and dread
teeth on the tail
foot on the head
angle of the bone
shakes out the roll
cut of the jibe
carves out the stroll
lost on the way
lost on the way
stepping on a sweet song
lost on the way
out of sight, out of mind
out of space and time
in between the lines
of the infinite monkey mind
you can't sample or hold
the sine don't unwind
it's the attack, decay, release
that sustains the ride
lost on the way
lost on the way
it's all good and gone
lost on the way
